ZipZoomer Map a service area by ZIP code and export the list

Loading ZIP outlines…

ZipZoomer turns a service area into a ZIP code list: draw a radius around your base or trace the area your crews drive, decide how ZIP codes on the edge count, and copy the list for your website, booking form, staff or Google Business Profile. Everyone then works from the same list instead of a vague “about 25 miles”.

The map above opens on a 25-mile radius around 27601 in Raleigh. Search your own ZIP code to start there.

How to map your service area

  1. Start from your base. Search your ZIP code, press Radius, and type how far you travel.
  2. Pick the edge rule. Fully in keeps every ZIP code inside the distance; Touching includes those the circle only reaches (see below).
  3. Shape it. Click ZIP codes on or off, or hold OPTION (ALT on Windows) and drag to cut out areas across a river or past a toll bridge.
  4. Check it. The list panel shows the number of ZIP codes, counties and states and the 2020 population.
  5. Export. Copy the list with commas for a website, download a table with city and county for staff, or copy a share link to the map.

Touching or Fully in?

A circle cuts through ZIP codes at its edge, and the edge rule decides who counts. Use Fully in when the list is a promise, such as free service calls or guaranteed arrival times, so no ZIP code on the list reaches past your distance. Use Touching for marketing, so a customer at the near edge of a large ZIP code is not left out. Many businesses keep both: a core list (Fully in) and an extended list (Touching) with a travel fee.

Google Business Profile service areas (checked October 26, 2026)

Google’s Business Profile help lets a service-area business set up to 20 service areas from cities, postal codes or other areas. It does not accept a radius, and it says the overall area should be within about two hours’ driving of your base. Twenty ZIP codes cover only a small area in a city, so pick the most important ones, or use cities and counties for the wider area. ZipZoomer’s hover card shows each ZIP code’s city, county and population to help you choose.

Where the list goes

PO Box ZIP codes

PO Box and single-organization ZIP codes cover post office boxes and organizations, not streets you drive to. For a service area, uncheck them under ZIP types so radius and drawings skip them. A booking form may still see them from customers who give a mailing address, so decide how your form treats them.

Questions and answers

How many service areas can a Google Business Profile have?

Up to 20, set by city, postal code or other area. A radius is not accepted, and Google asks that the whole area stay within about two hours’ drive of your base (checked October 26, 2026).

Should my service area be a radius or a drawn shape?

Start with a radius from your base, then trim it: rivers, bridges and traffic make some ZIP codes in the circle slow to reach. A lasso with Remove cuts those out in one stroke.

How do I put the list on my website?

Choose Comma in the list panel and press Copy list for a line such as 27601, 27603, 27604. For a table with city names, tick Include city and county and download the file.

How far should a service area reach?

That depends on your trade and travel time. The distance pages show how many ZIP codes and people a 10, 25 or 50-mile radius holds in cities and small towns.

Can I share the map with my team?

Yes. Copy share link puts the list in a link that opens the same highlighted map for anyone, with no account.
