Circle is measured from where you first press; Lasso follows your outline. The switch under Add and Remove decides which ZIPs count: Touching (any ZIP the shape touches), Center in (the ZIP's center point is inside) or Fully in (the whole ZIP is inside). For an exact distance, type a ZIP above and press Radius.
To leave out PO Box or single-organization ZIPs (a company, university or government office), or to keep only those, uncheck the others under ZIP types in the list panel.
The dotted grip on each box moves it: click or tap the grip to fold the box away, drag it to put the box somewhere else.
About ZipZoomer: what it does, the data it uses, and answers to common questions.
ZipZoomer finds every ZIP code within 10 miles of any U.S. ZIP code, shows them on a map with their real outlines, and gives you the list to copy or download as a CSV file. Ten miles is about the size of a large city’s core and its first ring of neighborhoods: in light traffic, a 15 to 25 minute drive. It is roughly what people mean by “nearby” for errands, a dentist, a gym or a takeout order, so it is the radius many local businesses start with.
The map above opens on a 10-mile radius around 60601 in Chicago, IL, which takes 81 ZIP codes with about 2.5 million people.
From 1 around 69361 in Scottsbluff, NE to 306 around 10001 in New York, NY:

At 10 miles the edge rule matters most. A circle this size cuts through many ZIP codes, so Touching and Center in can differ by 10 to 15 percent in a city (93 against 81 around 60601). For a delivery zone, Center in or Fully in keeps drivers inside the distance; for ads, Touching avoids leaving out a neighborhood at the edge.
Over all 41,063 ZIP codes, the median count within 10 miles is 9; the largest is 404, around 20059 in Washington, DC. 92.5% have another ZIP code within 10 miles, and for 13.2% the 10-mile list spans a state line.
Ten miles here is a straight line between center points (where each ZIP code’s number or dot sits on the map), not driving distance. Population is from the 2020 Census.
It depends on where you are. In a city a 10-mile circle holds dozens to hundreds of ZIP codes and millions of people (306 ZIP codes around 10001 in New York), which is often plenty. In rural areas it may hold only the town’s own ZIP code, so a 25 or 50-mile radius gives an ad platform enough people to work with.
It is 20 miles across and covers about 314 square miles, a little more than the land area of New York City (about 300 square miles). The ZIP codes it takes usually cover more ground than that, because the outer ones stick out past the circle.
The app’s default rule, Touching, also takes ZIP codes the circle only partly covers; the table and the map above use Center in.
Yes. Choose Circle, hold SHIFT and drag outward from the spot until the readout shows 10 mi; on a phone, hold Add with one finger and draw with another.
